AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): Former Congress President, leader Gopal Roy on Friday has hit the BJP Govt on its tax rows after Urban Development Dept increased massive taxes on water.

The tax was earlier only Rs. 30 whereas now it is Rs. 200.

Addressing media Gopal Roy said, “In Mughal regime it was Jizya tax. In British era it was indigo tax and now under Biplab and Company Water-Tax. Not only water-tax, but so many taxes have been imposed in last 20 months. Earlier, the tax was Rs. 30 under the Left Govt. We opposed that also. Why water tax should be imposed on people ? Last year it was Rs. 40. Now it is jumped at Rs. 200 that means 7 times increasement amid massive unemployment and economic slowdown problems”.

“So many taxes were imposed in the recent times by the Lootera Govt. Earlier health tax which was again one black law, indeed Tughlaqiuan law. Then license fee, property tax, power tariff. What not the Govt is doing ? No rules and regulation but only Tax, Tax and Tax. This is nothing but a KHASHAI (Butcher / Slaughter) Govt”, said Roy.
