Asian Games 2026: Satnam Singh and Salman Khan Secure Bronze for India on Day 5

India added another medal to its Asian Games 2026 campaign on Thursday as Satnam Singh and Salman Khan finished third in the men’s double sculls rowing final, earning a bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

The Indian duo produced a strong race at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course, clocking 6:13.25. They remained in medal contention throughout the race and were placed second at the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m marks before being overtaken during the closing stages.

China’s Yi Xudi and Nie Yide claimed gold, while Uzbekistan’s Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov took silver. The Indian pair ultimately finished 3.48 seconds behind the gold medallists.

The result carries additional significance for Indian rowing, as Satnam and Salman secured the country’s first-ever Asian Games medal in the men’s double sculls event.

The bronze also gave India an early boost on Day 5, which featured medal opportunities across rowing, wushu, shooting, athletics and other disciplines. Later in the day, Naorem Roshibina Devi added a silver in women’s sanda 60kg, taking India’s overall medal tally to 14.

For Satnam and Salman, the podium finish marks a notable moment in their Asian Games campaign and adds another chapter to India’s growing presence in continental rowing.
