AGARTALA, Nov 21 (TIWN): After young TV journalist Santanu Bhaumik was killed on Sep20, now state's senior TV journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik was shot dead by TSR Jawan Nandu reang at the 2nd Bn camp in Bodhjung Nagar. Murdered journalist Sudip Datta Bhowmik was also the nephew of renowned Bengali daily newspaper editor of Dainik Sambad Lt Bhupen Datta Bhaumik. Sudip Datta Bhowmik was working both in TV channels and print media of the Northeastern state, had vast experience in this field. Whereas on Sep 20, Santanu Bhowmik was killed in a political clash at Mandai, Sudip Datta Bhaumik was allegedly killed by TSR 2nd Bn trooper. A source said that in front of the Commandant office, Bhaumik was shot dead and till now TSR commandant Tapan Debbarma (allegedly absconding) has failed to give any liable answer behind Sudip Datta Bhaumik’s murder inside TSR camp. Journalists ghastly murder shocked Tripura.
It was first heard that Sudip Datta Bhowmik went to cover certain news for the day, but later it was known through sources that he was called by TSR official for a news purpose and thus he was murdered in intrigue.
Bhaumik was writing and telecasting various corruption related news of the state. The veteran journalist also had published some write-ups exposing police’s loopholes of duty and cash-exchange policy of a section of police.
Already in Santanu murder case, police failed to arrest the culprits and now the senior journalist’s murder has broken the patience of state journalists.
Although 1 TSR Jawan named Nandu Reang was arrested, but state journalists have demanded CBI investigation in Sudip Datta Bhowmik's murder case.
