SONAMURA, Sep 25 (TIWN): A woman has alleged that she was robbed at knifepoint inside her home in the Matinagar area under Sonamura police station during the early hours of the night.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when the woman, identified as Monti Sarkar, was asleep after finishing dinner. She alleges that a local youth, identified as Liton Das, broke open the door of her house and entered the premises.

The woman further alleged that the accused held a knife to her throat and took away her gold chain, ?13,000 in cash and a smartphone before fleeing the spot.

Monti Sarkar claimed that she could not raise an alarm at the time because the knife was held against her throat. She later shouted for help, following which nearby residents rushed to the house.

According to the complainant, her husband has been living in Saudi Arabia for work for an extended period, and she currently stays in Matinagar with her elderly mother. She alleged that the accused took advantage of the situation and the relative isolation of the house.

Following the incident, Sarkar lodged a written complaint against Liton Das at Sonamura police station. She has sought a proper investigation into the incident and legal action against the accused.

The allegations are yet to be established, and further details are awaited from the police investigation.
