AGARTALA, August 16 (TIWN): The preset schedule for agreement with IGNOU exceeded, but the training to be imparted to teachers has not started yet. Rather the School Education Department is veiling the truth in order to keep the agreement out of harm’s way.

According to official documents, the training has started from July 3, but in reality, training procedure is yet to begin. Furthermore, the department tried to evade the legal formalities by mentioning the predetermined date in the application form of candidates to be trained.

After the job of 10,323 teachers being in jeopardy, the state government is not ready to let the other teachers face any problem regarding their jobs. Hence, the government is acting vigilant over each steps adopted by them.

The Right to Education guidelines stated the elementary stage teachers to be imparted two years compulsory training and the Central government issued notice to the state government for repeated times. The state government was allotted additional amount for the training procedure.

The state government though received allotment of Rs 6 crore in 2011, but did not impart training. After the delegates of Joint Review Mission 2013 visited the state, the government assured to start training from that year, but the state government failed to keep its words. Similarly the state government seems to fail in its agreement with IGNOU.   The government decided immediately to impart 5-year training to 25,000 untrained teachers.

The School Education Department did not issued any notice to those teachers and the training has not yet started resulting which they may have to face legal complicacy. Besides, the department yet could not select eligible teachers to impart training to untrained teachers.
