AGARTALA, Oct 15 (TIWN): CPI-M MP Jiten Chowdhury on Sunday has claimed about police's inactive role to save the common people and demanded an inquiry into Oct-19's violence where police officials' negligence allegedly provoked violence led by IPFT.
In the press release GMP said, "On Sep-19, when GMP conducted a massive rally, which had gathered around 50,000 people at Agartala's Astabol Stadium, IPFT cadres had injured GMPs in various spots of Khowai as Mohonpur, Jirania, Jampuijala".
"Around 60 vehicles were burnt and in front various police officials CPI-M party offices were burnt", the press release added.
The GMPs also demanded that the police who were involved in negligence of duty must be identified. An inquiry committee should be set for it who were involved in Sep-19's violence. But there was not call from GMP for proper investigation, action against police's negligence on Sep-20 (When Santanu was murdered).
