AGARTALA, August 10 (TIWN): The tender bids were opened for empanelment to award work order for the fly-over to be constructed from Badharghat drop gate to Fire Brigade Chowmuhani, official sources said.A highly placed source in the Public Works Department (PWD) said that sealed tenders were invited for construction of a fly-over covering a large area from Badharghat drop-gate till Fire Brigade. The fly-over was planned to be around 2233 mt high with double lane to facilitate fast traffic movement, the source said. He added that an estimated project cost of Rs. 205.22 crore was earmarked for the project.
Asked about response in the tender process, the source said that ten bids were dropped for the work.
Asked about the issue, Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department (PWD) Sunil Bhowmik confirmed that bidders from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and other major cities of the country dropped their bids in the tender. “We are considering them”, he said.
VKS Infratech, a Delhi-based consultancy agency prepared Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project. The agency recently made a power-point presentation over the issue before Chief Minister Manik Sarkar earlier this year.
The source said that the CM is attaching high significant to speedy completion of the project. The fly-over is estimated to be completed within 30 months from the inception of work.
