AMBASSA, July 16 (TIWN): To verify the overall preparations for the counting of just concluded three-tier Panchayat election, the State Election Commissioner- Yatendra Kumar today visited Ambassa sub-division. He visited almost all the strong rooms and counting centers under Ambassa block.
On being asked about the recently concluded election, Kumar said that the state people have experienced a peaceful election yesterday except few untoward incidents of violence.
The fresh polling for Gram Panchayat in two booths in Kadamtala and Bishalgarh is scheduled to be conducted tomorrow where polling was postponed over wrong printing on ballot papers issue yesterday.
Later, Y. Kumar visited the strong room and counting Hall of Kulai Higher Secondary School after a short meeting with the district electoral officer (DEO) and district magistrate (DM) Milind Ramtek at Ambassa Circuit House, here today.
Polling for 114 seats in eight zilla parishads, 381 seats of 35 panchayat samities and 5129 seats of 591 village panchayats began amid tight security in the morning. As many as 11, 08,188 electorates, including 5.37 lakh women, will decide the fate of 13,754 candidates across 2,615 polling stations.
It is may be noted here, an average of 85 percent polling has been recorded across the state over 2,615 polling booths.
