Agartala, July 4 (TIWN): The Agartala Municipal Corporation started spraying of anti-malaria medicines in all 35 wards of the corporation area to combat any possibilites of outbreak in the city area.
Malaria positive reports recently came from areas as close to the city as Jirania, Mohanpur etc. Malaria infected patiets are currently being treated at the GB Hospital.
A highly placed source in the Corporation today said that the AMC had upgraded six health sub-centers with financial help from the erstwhile National Rural Health Mission. Eight health sub centers were also constructed in the corporation area under the Mission.
Spraying of anti-mosquito medicines was extended to all wards of the Corporation; fogging and other related activities were going on as per requirementm he said.
The source further added that a budgetary provision of Rs. 35 lakhs was kept for 2014-2015 in the Municipal budgetary outlay.
The Corporation authorities continued de-worming programme and pulse polio programme in continuation to the previous years. The initiative was specially focused on the 59 identified slum areas of the city.
In a special initiative, the Agartala Municipal Corporation recently resolved to open a dispensary for health check-up of casual workers engaged in solid waste management project of the city. A tender was floated for the purpose.
