Irregularity in power substation construction at Tripura University
TIWN

Agartala, July 3 (TIWN): Centering round the irregularities in construction of 33 KV substation of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), allegations were raised against the CMD of TSECL and concerned AGM.

With the financial aid from Tripura University (A Central University), the substation is under construction at the interior of Tripura University. As per the report, decision for the construction of 33 KV substation was taken in the year 2011 with the initiative to provide uninterrupted power supply in the university. The company, earlier named IPL under the liability of substation construction is in the blacklist in other states, said sources.

After enlisted in the blacklist, the company changed its name and at present it is known as INPL. Allegations stated, while the Civil and Electrical division is lying unsupervised, the CMD and AGM allegedly gave the responsibility to the said black listed company. The company has used low quality equipments while constructing the substation. Furthermore, severe allegations were raised as damaged cement from adjacent to Hapania Hospital were used as chips for boundary fencing instead of necessary chips basically used for the fencing.

Two 3°15 SVA transformers were erected and 4 outgoing breaker was set up. After the company completes all the necessary works, TSECL’s testing branch would conduct test. After placing the apt test reports, the substation would start functioning officially. But the fact is, only one breaker has started functioning yet. Other breakers are not yet commissioned. As per the rule, substation Construction Company will remain under the responsibility of the substation till it gets handed over to TSECL.

CMD and AGM have decided to give Rs 1.5 lakh to the company in 1 month for power distribution by starting the breaker. CMD and AGM have about finalized the contract of annual repairing and operation with the company. Sources revealed that a few officials of TSECL brought the dissipated issue before the minister. Well, it is to see what initiative the ministers take against CMD and AGM for allegedly responsible for the irregularities regarding construction work. Not only the substation, but also further allegations were raised against them over other works. One ruling party backed Union leader and others are allegedly involved with them in the wrongdoing.
