AGARTALA, Dec 14 (TIWN): Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy during a programme held on "Police Public Interference to combat Crime" held at Shahid Bhagat Singh Youva Hostel, said following DGP K Nagraj’s speech, “...DGP said at Mizoram the conviction is highly confirmed as once FIR is launched there is no scope to escape for the criminals as the local community ensures the justice to the case through regular presence of witnesses and other factors which follow up of a cases....But apart from that there are certain issues police need to understand about themselves why crime happens more in this country..?”. “I will not repeat what I said during Human Rights Day at Prgana Bhawan as everyone knows my story of one night staying in jail, but another young boy of 20s at my own state whose home's all windows were broken by miscreants and he went to lodge an FIR, but then police in return instead of lodging FIR had arrested him".

"That time I was in politics and out of anger I called police as ‘Animal-In-Wardi’, following which I was highly criticized", he added.

“However, I was very angry on that time that it came out of my mouth, but the scenario has not overall changed in the whole country. Our police would stop to share tea and coffee cheers with criminals, rather they should concentrate to make proper chargesheet. Think about the boy's mental state and the concept about police he received on that time", Roy said.

"Rather than talking about criminals rights, focus on make strong points to put in a case, gather data and file solid cases and then follow up; so that justice may happen”, said Roy.

Comparing the country with America he said, “At America anybody can keep gun and apart from that police is there highly feared. Whenever a police shows his hand, 6 to 12 lane cars at a time stops. In those lanes high officials to senate members all obeys police's instruction. But in India a person drinks, drives and kills but people know him as a super star now. He killed deer out of amusement, he killed humans because he was drunk, but you and I are watching his movies at high costs”.

“I visited at New Jersey, where if police find a person driving and he is drunk the minimum fine begins from 500 dollars. That’s the law and police function there. Here also police would try to set themselves with such a mission, so that almost no crime remains there and people would fear to do any crimes", Roy added.

Governor’s speech was also a slap on the communist govt’s face as its primary vision and mission have become to go on with Anti-American propagation.

Not only Governor, but the Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Women Manika Dutta Roy on Human Rights Day accepted that America was the first country to set up women’s rights. “Earlier, women had no voting rights. It was in 1920 that in New York more than 15,000 women jointly protested for their rights and following that massive protest America Govt decided on the equal voting rights of men and women, which was later accepted by other countries”, Roy said. Roy on that day raised question, “Why women feel lack of security to go out from home after 10  PM in our country & a man never feels so…?"
