AGARTALA, Oct 22 (TIWN): Making another history India & Bangladesh relation was strengthen in Modi Era, which is now boosting with the rail line expansion on Tripura’s soil. While the Indian side is being funded by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region while the MEA is financing it for the Bangladesh side. However, it is to boost state’s economy which was not possible in long 23 years of CPI-M regime. After the Indo-Bangla joint meeting on international railway service was held, the first door to Southeast Asia Gateway has been opened for Tripura. Tripura became landlocked after partition was done in 1947 and during the gap of 70 years from Independence to 2016, Tripura had been at a corner only cut almost from the whole country. The geographical location of Tripura, is called as the drawback of the country, but after the BJP Govt came in power in 2014, the location instead of a drawback has been used as the plus point for Tripura.

A joint meeting was held between India and Bangladesh delegates and discussion was held on this issue and the work said to be completed within 2018.

The Agartala-Akhaura railway project would provide a major boost to development and economy of the north-eastern region of India and eastern Bangladesh. The project would boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Act East' policy.

The Indian government has the highest priority to the Agartala-Akhaura railway project that would automatically connect the rail network of both the countries developing the bonding between two countries.

Agartala-Akhaura railway project would provide a major boost to development and economy of the northeastern region of India and eastern Bangladesh. Modi discussed the over Rs.1, 000 crore railway project with Hasina during his visit to Dhaka in June last year.
