KAMALPUR, Oct 14 (TIWN): Durga Puja marks the moments of joy and happiness and also the moments of triumph of the good over the bad. The very essence of our prayer to the mother goddess also lies in that eternal tune of defeat of falsehood, dishonesty and bad to truth, honesty and good. And the same tune is spread by the Science and Rationalist Association of Kamalpur for last few years. The organization arranges for different programs to spread the message, this year too.

Like previous years, the entrance corner of Bus Terminus became the centre of attraction along with eye-candy marquees and idols but for slightly a different reason. Especially, the youths and obviously, the women thronged into the place in large numbers. In that corner, no attracting idols or marquees were set. No magician was present with his spellbound tricks. But some gentlemen and ladies were discussing about some long preserved superstitions and beliefs that casted an ill effect on our society for a long time. They were also arranged for show to unearth the logic of some popular tricks which the religious godfathers and quacks used to befool people in the name of supernatural powers.

Secretary of the Association Dulal Ghosh, activist Soma Das, Ratan Das and others unearthed the baseless demand of some profit-mongering people of this society of having supernatural powers. And at the same time, they discussed about the life and works of the great scientists and rationalist of the world with a message to spread awareness, live logically and to build up a healthy society. The association hoped that, their efforts would surely usher a new and enlightened society in future.
