AGARTALA, Oct 10 (TIWN): Tripura’s unchecked border smugglings, inland drug circulations have finally downed the meaning of auspicious occasions in Tripura, as for the young generation now Durga Puja or any festival means to be lunatic for 24 hours and to enjoy drug drops each and every seconds during the holiday, resulting increasing number of accidents, chaos during puja, increasing crime rates & most importantly the Tension which creates among the parents. The unchecked rampant drug business, ganja plantation in Tripura due to the negligence of the state govt of Tripura and lameduck Police offices, the tensions of the parent during Durga Puja have no end. Finally it’s taking the young generation towards a dangerous future. On the one hand Tripura has 7 lakhs of unemployed youths, on the other hand the uncontrolled drug business here have broken down the law & order of the society finally. However, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar claims Tripura is a peaceful land. He as a “Communist” ideology believer can sacrifice Industrialization, can reject job-opportunities, but he doesn’t allow any change which will affect the peace of the state.

Just 2 days ago of Durga Puja, on Oct 5 atleast 500 kilo of Ganja was recovered by BSF 159th Btn from a Truck which was going from Agartala to Guwahati. The name of the driver is Lalan Ray, resident of Bihar and his vehicle was also bearing Bihar number plate.

The bundles of Ganja recovery ahead of Durga Puja had created much tension at North Tripura. But surprisingly, that incident didn’t bring any affect on Ganja / Drug business as these items are openly sold at various shops in town areas.  Police acts like “Unknown” to all these.

Just before a month Rs. 1 crores Ganja was recovered by Sepahijala Police. People thought drug-crime rates may decrease this time, but with this incident it shows what is the condition of state’s law and order.

Although DGP K Nagraj claimed that Tripura will remain crime free during Durga Puja, but this is the reality of state grown level and so called high alerts.

Before Durga Puja for long 1 month, the demands for narcotics were going high across Tripura. With the making of puja pandal, the manufacturing of Ganja, Charas and importing of various other drugs were much rampant in state and businessmen were busy to fill their go-downs with such goods----- all these have been resulted in a Narcotic Durga Puja across Tripura.

A large number of those narcotic which are also supplied to the neighboring countries is based on Sonamura subdivision, under Sepahijala Dist. Narcotic business is also rampant in North Tripura, although the narcotic circulation there mostly based on illegal intrusion of those items from NE states. However, police many times nabbed many smugglers but due to open entry allowed at Tripura-Mizoram border the narcotic business is spreading its wings fast.

Tripura’s drug trafficking duties, which are mostly given to the police  are just not enough with the increasing rate of drug-business.

Durga Puja thus has become almost like a lunatic party vacation for young generation, is using as the highest  business period for a section of shop-keepers who not sell only drugs, but they sell liquors (illegally) at double price especially after midnight.
