AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): Tripura’s narcotics business fueled by drug-mafias, Islamic fundamentalist groups along Sonamura-Boxnagar region, Tripura-Mizoram border------- smuggling tons of brown sugar, marijuana, contrabands. In a shocking development, just 20 days after 2000 Kilos Ganjas were recovered from Sepahijala Dist, a smuggler Raju Debbarma was arrested with 2 packets of brown sugar from Agartala Gol-Chakkar area. Gol-Chakkar remained as smugglers’ zone in Agartala City since decades, powered by the open mafia-raj of smugglers at there. The Gol Chakkar area is gripped by all kinds of illegal businessmen, but police are unable to take any action against them although the businesses are running over the Heart of the City.

Raju Debbarma is a resident of AD Nagar area, who was carrying 2 small packets of brown sugars with him. Battala Police getting informed via sources nabbed the suspected person & 2 packets of brown sugar were recovered from him.  

Massive chaos created on the place when police nabbed the culprit. Women almost beaten him up on the spot, but police anyhow managed the situation.  However, with the initiative of Police locals are happy. The brown sugars have been sent for testing and police is further doing inquiry against him and finding out the probable links between him and other smugglers. 

Tripura’s massive Ganja productions are stabling the economy of the Mafia based state, whereas brown sugar is more exporting inside the state from NE, Bangladesh. 

Rapid influx business of Mayanmar made products are also reported many times in this running year.

As per the Bishalgarh Police station record for last on Sep 3875 kgs marijuana was recovered, which was ready for smuggling, then on Sep 7, more 1,125 kilos Ganja recovered from that same Dist. Talking to Bishalgarh police on Saturday they said that continuous raids are being held against Ganja cultivation and production. As a result worth of more than 1 Crores of Ganja was recovered in last one week. Bishalgarh Police, on Sep 7 recovered huge quantity of marijuana hidden in a truck near Gokulnagar rail bridge area of bordering Sepahijala district of Tripura, which worths around Rs. 56.5 lakhs. The car was bearing Nagaland registration number. That incident however again proved the NorthEast narcotics network active in Tripura. Boxnagar, Sonamura areas were known as the den for Ganja business, but now day by day, the whole Sepahijala district has become a paradise for such business.

Drug smuggling business inside the State is getting boost day after day due to unholy nexus of Drug Mafias and some corrupt officials of State Police. In January, Jirania Police recovered 900 grams of brown sugar, worth Rs 42 lakhs from Jirania, 35 kilometer from the capital city. The arrested youth were identified as, B Obroi Meseka (22), Sanu Ram Reang (29), Ajoy Kalai (28), Sudip Debbarma (27). In February, a team of Battala outpost police arrested one  Nihar Ranjan Roy drug peddler and claimed to have busted a smuggling ring involved in selling drugs from one state to another state.

It’s said that Tripura, Mizoram, Myanmar border regions along Bangladesh turned into a narcotics smuggling den in spite of tall claims from Bangladesh authorities.

1.     400 gram brown sugar was seized from a bus by 159th battalion BSF on Sunday afternoon at Dharmanagar ISBT area. The bus was travelling from Dharmanagar to Agartala. Reportedly, Brown sugar worth Rs. 30 lakhs was being shipped into the Capital City Agartala.

2.     On July 7,  1 kilo and 365 gram of Brown Sugar (worth 1.25 crores)  was recovered from Silchar-Agartala train at Panisagar by BSF 159thbtln.

3.     On July 8, four (4) culprits from Mizoram-Silchar border : 1) Amanyaual  2) Richard Lalbe Moughta  3) Laldin Jera (24), 4) Mingchung Nanga (27). They were nabbed from BhajaBazar, Silchar Mizoram Border areas.

4.     On July 28, Assam police arrested 3 Tripura smugglers at Silchar, named Raju Nama Sudra (28), Bapan Saha (28), Abhijit Debnath (32) who were smuggling brown sugar and heroin.

In last 1 month, atleast 15 persons were nabbed in Tripura-Mizoram drug business. In this situation the cheaper price drugs have increased more danger for the young generation.
