AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): At last common men came on mass protest declining to keep anymore patience to their endless miseries of everyday lives due to the unorganized PWD works, fueled by Flyover construction work in Agartala. On Saturday, a road blockage was held on NH-44 at Bordowali area, which disrupted all vehicular movements for hours on Udaipur-Agartala route. Resented masses, claimed that the public are facing tough times due to the bad shape of this mentioned road since many years. This condition not only increasing accidents but everyday traffic jams are disrupting their daily movement. “It has become a huge tension to pass few meters on this road as in office time everyday traffic jam dramas hitting lives on this way. Whereas Ministers are taking a shot-cut route, but the common people are treated like worse than animals in state”, claimed protesters. The flyover work which needs around more 1 and half year to b completed is occupying a larger portion of the road but PWD yet to expand the road properly.

In the name of eviction many shops were broken down before many months, but the broken elements are not yet cleared from the road, creating mess everyday.

Among the protesters local shop keepers, residents were present. Businessmen of Bordowali claimed that they are undergoing massive losses since years. “In the 2015-16 FY we faced tremendous financial crisis, the running year is also same”, said a businessmen.

Later the situation was taken under control by Police, PWD officials. Although they promised to upgrade the road condition, but the number of road blockage with the issue of the bad condition of highways have become an everyday issue and till years none of the roads were repaired. When protest held some amount of bricks are used to fix the road temporarily, but within weeks the roads become as they are.

For Assam-Tripura road although Tripura Govt. blames the Central & Assam Govt, but what is about the inside roads of the state?

In the Northeast Industry summit Manik Sarkar became furious when NITI Aayog member talked about pathetic condition of roadmaps in states from South Tripura to North Tripura & Chief Minister said, as central is not providing funds so the state govt can not work but under PWD, the National Highway, multiple roads inside Agartala City have left in bad shapes since years, but PWD evenafter receiving deputations, letters, bundles of applications is acting like blind to the issues.

On the one hand Agartala claimed to become a SMART City, but the Truth is really horrifying. The road which was blocked on Saturday, doesn’t look like a National Highway at all------ full of bricks, mud increasing the pathos of passengers day by day----which is nothing but a sight of the so called ‘Golden Era’.
