KAMALPUR, Aug 14 (TIWN): The reluctance of doctor made an eighteen years old snake cut youth to embrace untimely death. The family members and rationalists blamed the doctor for negligence. The incident took place at Homeless Colony at Mayachari panchayat under this sub-division last night.
Last evening, the eighteen years’ old boy of Nikunja Kanda of the Homeless Colony area namely Sridhar Kanda was beaten by a snake. The family members and neighbours shifted Sridhar immediately to BSM Hospital. There Dr. Paban Debbarma was on duty.
He gave some primary treatment to the youth and referred him to GBP hospital. But as the poor family had no ability to take him to GBP and the hospital also failed to provide any ambulance, hence the family took Sridhar back to home.
Then the boy succumbed to his snake cut. This morning, the family members informed the quacks to remedy the boy. Receiving the information, the Secretary of Science and Rationalist Association Dulal Ghosh reached there with other activists.
He contacted with the concerned doctor to become sure of his death. Then it got revealed that, Dr. Paban Debbarma not pushed anti venom serum to the boy which remained compulsory in case of snake bite. The doctor also admitted that, he not pushed the same in fear of reaction.
However, the Rationalist Association strongly condemned the role of the doctor. Moreover, it revealed the actual health scenario of the state. And, now, it became a matter of concern that, if people would get faith to knock the hospitals and doctors in critical cases after such incident.
