KALYANPUR Jan 26 (TIWN) : Republic Day honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.
On Tuesday 67th Republic day has been duly celebrated at Kalyanpur, under Khowai like all over the nation. The celebration was organized by the Kalyanpur Block. At 9:05 AM Kalyanpur Block Chairman Sunil Munda began the Republic day celebration by hosting the National Flag on the Block office.
The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic.
26 January was chosen as the Republic day because it was on this day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by the British Regime.
The celebration event addressed by the BDO Subhra Gupta. National flag has been hosted by OC Shanti Bhusan Bhuiya at the Kalyanpur PS. Duet songs been performed by the students at the Kalyanpur Block office.
Security was tighten all over the city following the Republic Day. District administrative department distributed sweets, fruits along the patients of Kalyanpur Hospital.
Local Young blood club organized a mega art competition following the Republic day. Near about 120 participants participated in the mega art competition. In addition there were so many cultural programs has been organized centering the 67th Republic day all over Kalyanpur.
