AGARTALA, Jan 14 (TIWN): The fifth day of the Tripura assembly on Thursday began with the question answer session between the opposition and the ruling govt. Amidst the question hour, leaders of the opposition party raised various issues including the case of Sushil Chowdhury released acquitted from the jail. In a question raised by the opposition MLA Asish Kumar Saha, in the fifth day of the Assembly, Home minister Manik Sarkar said that the state government is willing to move the case to the Supreme Court. With allegations raised by the opposition regarding the misappropriation of judgement against the murder case, MLA Asish Saha raised the issue that in most of the murder cases the accused are running free outside the bars and no proper action is taken against the murderer. Following the pressure from the opposition, CM Manik Sarkar said that investigation was conducted with details into the matter but releasing Sushil Chowdhury acquitted was the decision of the High court. The opposition stated that in most of the cases the accused don’t get punishment and neither investigation is done into the murder case. After the allegation raised by MLA Ashis Saha, CM Manik Sarkar said that the investigation is regularly conducted into all the murder cases and regarding the Ganadoot Triple murder case the state government will file the case to Supreme Court and further investigation will be conducted into it. A HC division bench released Sushil Choudhury who was sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in murder of his three employees 14 months ago.
Tripura High court has released the Dainik Ganadoot editor-cum-owner Sushil Choudhury acquitted who was alleged as the sole accused in the murder of three employees on the premises of the Bengali daily in Agartala on May 19.
Allegedly, Police failed to put up any appealing evidence against the accused, the prime accused sushil choudhury was released from jail. After carrying out in-depth investigation, Investigating Officer Manas Paul had submitted a 562-page charge sheet accusing Sushil Chowdhury for the gruesome incident before the Addl District and Sessions court. However, failing to prove any allegation against the accused the court has released him from jail.
The high court division bench of Justice Subhasis Talapatra released Sushil Chowdhury from jail who was sent to life term imprisonment by the lower court.
However, the five day long assembly session ended on Thursday after Governor of Tripura Tathagata Roy kicked off the winter session of the State Assembly on Friday at 11 a.m. at State Assembly House of Capital Complex.
As per the regulation the first day of the session began with the speech of Governor Tathagata Roy.
The assembly session continued for five days which began from January 8 and continued till January 14 except the Saturdays and the Sundays. The winter session of the assembly tabled vote-on-account and place a new bill-‘Indian system of Medicine-2016.
