AGARTALA, Jan 14 (TIWN): The date January13, 2016 will be scripted in golden alphabets in the history of Tripura as the landlocked state has finally witnessed the first trial run of the BG train in the state after 69 years of independence of India. After years of struggling, the BG train has ultimately made its entry in the railway map of the country. With the successful trial run of the BG train to Agartala Railway station on Wednesday has paved the way for the development of the transportation and connectivity in the state. It was an emotional moment in India's mountainous north-eastern region when the train ran on the newly converted BG track for the first time creating a history. The metre gauge tracks laid over a century ago are being uprooted and have paved the way for the BG service.Thousands of men and women gathered at Agartala Railway station as the BG train chugged its way to the track.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India's erstwhile "Look East" policy into an "Act East" policy has made this much awaited dream successful for the landlocked Tripura. It is to be mentioned here that the ruling government under its regime of 24 hours did not take any initiative to look into the development of the transportation and communication facility of the state.Improving connectivity in the landlocked northeast region is one of the top most priorities of the Modi government.

After entering office six months ago, central government has moved with a great sense of priority and speed to turn the 'Look East Policy' into 'Act East Policy’ to speed up the development work progress for the landlocked state of Tripura.

"Look east" was introduced in the early 1990s when the Congress party's PV Narasimha Rao was prime minister. It was endorsed by former Prime ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh. However, with PM Narendra Modi coming in power has brought a revolution for the landlocked state Tripura.

A lot of focus is being given to enhance railway connectivity in the region.

Tripura is reaping the peace dividends with rapid economic development and improving connectivity.

So far under the regime of left front Tripura has never witnessed such historical moment in the state. Apart from inaugurating buildings, market sheds and auditorium the left government has never taken any initiative to bring any revolution in the state.

Only due to the initiative of the central government it has become possible to boost the transportation and communication facility in the state. It is to be mentioned here that NH44 is under the inspection of the state government which was snatched from the central government and today the NH44 is left into pitiable condition.  Under years of regime, the left has not done anything for the development of the common people and today when with the hand of the central government development has paved its way to the state CM Manik Sarkar has taken his foot back to be a part of the historical moment.
