BSNL held press meet, Internet Bandwidth to be inaugurated by February

AGARTALA, Jan 13 (TIWN): The much awaited internet Bandwidth service to be inaugurated by the first week of February as said by BSNL CGMT Kamal Kumar Saxena, in a press meet organised by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd on Wednesday at BSNL office located at Kaman Chowmuhani.

Addressing the press meet the BSNL CGMT kamal kumar saxena said that the work of laying optical fibre is almost completed and the rest of the work will be completed by the end of January.

CGMT kamal kumar saxena further said that with the inauguration of the internet bandwidth the internet service will improve in a faster rate in the state and there will be no major problem in the internet connectivity of the state.

The much awaited dream of Tripura to emerge as the third internet gateway after Mumbai and Chennai is not far away as BSNL CGMT kamal kumar saxena said that the formal inauguration of the internet bandwidth is likely to be held by the first week of February.

BSNL CGMT kamal kumar saxena also said that work is complete and all the equipments have reached Agartala and is ready for the inauguration.

Once the internet bandwidth is inaugurated, Agartala, Tripura's capital city, would be the third international internet gateway in India after Mumbai and Chennai.

The agreement is initially signed for four years and India will gain 10 Gbps (gigabits per second) bandwidth in the first year with a provision for this to go up to 40 Gbps per second in the subsequent years. India has purchasing this surplus unused bandwidth from Bangladesh to develop the IT industry in Northeast.

The most important work like laying optical fibre is completed and the rest of the other additional work is underway. He also clarified that the other additional work will not pose any obstruction to the construction work.

With the inaugurations of the internet bandwidth project the internet service will be upgraded to an extreme level.

Apart, in a bid to improve quality communication and connectivity along the borders with Bangladesh, India’s National telecom backbone and the largest tele-service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has decided to install 25 more BTS.

This initiative is taken to install Base Tower Stations (BTS) along the borders with Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar to improve mobile phone connectivity’s in the bordering parts of India.
