Aparajita Sarangi arrives in state: Regional Workshop on RURBAN Mission held at Pragna Bhawan

AGARTALA, Dec 22 (TIWN): Aparajita Sarangi, Joint Secretary of MoRD attended a programme at Prgna Bhawan on Regional Workshop on RURBAN Mission.

The programme was inaugurated by Tripura CM Manik Sarkar.

As per brief given by Tripura Govt, while delivering the welcome speech, Aparajita Sarangi expressed her satisfaction on the overall work under RD Dept. of Tripura.

Other important officialsYashpal Singh, Chief Secretary of Tripura, J K Mahapatra, Secretary of MoRD, GSG Ayyangar, Principal Secretary of RD Dept remained present during the programme. Badal Choudhury Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Revenue and Public Works,  & Minister Naresh Jamatia, Minister for Forest, Rural Development (excluding Panchayat), had also present over there.

It’s to be mentioned here that the Union Cabinet approves Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission to drive economic, social and infrastructure development in rural areas in 2015. In an ambitious bid to transform rural areas to economically, socially and physically sustainable spaces, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today approved the Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM) with an outlay of Rs. 5142.08 crores.

It was said that the State Governments would identify the clusters in accordance with the Framework for Implementation prepared by the Ministry of Rural Development. The clusters will be geographically contiguous Gram Panchayats with a population of about 25000 to 50000 in plain and coastal areas and a population of 5000 to 15000 in desert, hilly or tribal areas.

The outcomes described under RURBAN Mission are:

  1. Bridging the rural-urban divide-viz: economic, technological and those related to facilities and services,
  2. Stimulating local economic development,
  3. Spreading development in the region,
  4. Attracting investment in rural areas etc.

However, Tripura Govt. is presently in high competition to get various awards under RD Dept. Thus Principal Secretary of RD Dept. GSG Ayyangar seemed very active during the programme held at Pragna Bhawan.
