AGARTALA, Dce 6 (TIWN): The 200 crore aid project by The Asian Development Bank (ADB) which was sanctioned to completely refurbish the half-a-century old water supply system in Tripura capital Agartala is yet in darkness and there is no development of drinking water supply in the areas of Agartala city. It is to be mentioned here that The ADB had sanctioned the Rs. 200 crore project to entirely change the 408 km water supply underground pipelines, laid in 1960 but so far there is no development in the drinking water supply at Agartala.Question arise where has the big amount of Rs 200 crore disappeared. A project with funds provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was supposed to overhaul the entire 53-year-old water supply system in Tripura's capital Agartala. The ADB has recently sanctioned the Rs.200 crore projects to replace the 408-km water supply pipelines, commissioned in 1960, but so far there is no glimpse of development in the drinking water supply at Agartala. It is to be mentioned here that the ADB assisted project was suppose to replace the water supply lines in the eastern, southern and middle zones of Agartala, while the works in the northern zone, was scheduled to be done under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.

However, there are reports of slight development in the north zone but as of the other zones there is no development.

Based in Manila (Philippines), ADB-assisted North Eastern Region Urban Development Programme was implemented in Meghalaya capital Shillong, Mizoram capital Aizawl, Nagaland’s Kohima, Sikkim capital Gangtok besides Agartala

However, question arise even after passage of the years of the 200 crore aid project by The Asian Development Bank (ADB) why there is no development in the process of the drinking water facility in Agartala.

It is alleged that the fund of the 200 crore sanctioned by the Asian Development Bank is looted and yet there is no development in the drinking water facility.

On the one hand the so called poor people left front government claims that the part doesn’t have sufficient money to improve the condition of the water supply in the state where as there is no report of the 200 crore aid project by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which was sanctioned to improve the water supply at Agartala but till date there is no development in the water supply and the people are still getting the poor supply of water.
