Work on laying Power transmission lines undergoing rapidly, altogether 3,500 employees engaged in the transmission work

AGARTALA, Nov 22 (TIWN): The laying of power cable lines for the transmission of 100 MW power to Bangladesh is undergoing rapidly at different spots including at Kounarban area. Talking to TIWN correspondent Senior Safety officer Amarendra Kumar Sahu said that altogether 3,500 employees are engaged in the work of laying power cable lines for transmission of 100 MW power to Bangladesh.With the aim to fulfil the work within December 16 the employees are working in full swing. Site Engineer Surendra Yadav further said that 50 percent of laying power cables lines is almost complete and it can be assumed that the remaining work will be completed in the given deadline.Despite of finalising the final tariff for power transmission to Bangladesh, Palatana Power Plant has decided to supply power to Bangladesh by December 16.

Reportedly, The 100 MW power will be dispatched to Bangladesh from Suryamaninagar power sub-station at the outskirts of Agartala and for transmission of 100 MW power, the works on transmission lines is undergoing rapidly with facilities of 400 KV double circuit transmission lines.

About 143 towers would be set up for 47 kilometer long transmission lines up to South Comilla of Bangladesh. About Rs 250 crore would be utilized to complete the transmission lines.

The Centre in consultation with the Tripura government had decided to sell 100MW after the Bangladesh government allowed free transhipment of heavy turbines for the 726.6MW Palatana thermal power plant.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had raised the issue during her visit to Tripura in January 2012 and pressed for power sale from Palatana to her country.

For power transmission and supply, 47km of power cable lines are being set up to connect Surjyamani Nagar in southern Agartala with southern part of Comilla town in Bangladesh. In Tripura, there will be 18km of transmission lines while the remaining 29km lines will be within Bangladesh. Altogether 143 transmission towers would be set up between Suryamoni Nagar and southern part of Comilla town. There will be 67 towers between Suryamoni Nagar and Kaiadepha area under Bishalgarh subdivision in Tripura near the Indo-Bangladesh border while the rest of the towers will be in the neighbouring country. Construction of 41 towers has been completed while work on remaining 26 towers in Tripura is in progress.

On the Bangladesh side, construction of the 76 towers is also nearing completion, according to reports available with the corporation.

In Tripura, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is laying the transmission lines while in the neighbouring country a local company is carrying out the work.

The total expense for construction of transmission lines and towers will be Rs 250 crore, of which Rs 83 crore is for construction in Tripura
