Pradesh Congress observes birth anniversary of Chacha Nehru

AGARTALA, Nov 14 (TIWN): To commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, independent India’s first Prime Minister, Tripura Pradesh Congress paid floral tribute to the frame of Nehru to mark the occasion on Saturday at Congress Bhawan.

Children’s Day is celebrated in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, or popularly known as Chacha Nehru. The occasion is celebrated on 14th November every year with great splendour and grandeur. The day is celebrated to pay tribute to this legendary freedom fighter for his long struggle to achieve independence from the British. To add on, Nehru was extremely fond of young children. It is due to his love and passion that this day is marked as Children’s Day, thereby honouring childhood. This occasion is commemorated on a national level with celebrations in all schools.

As a part of the occasion, national anthem was sung by the party members, party flag was also hoisted as a respect to chacha Nehru.

Opposition leader along with other party members also went to the martyrs ground at Gandhighat and paid floral tribute to the chacha Nehru’s martyrs land.

However, opposition leader Sudip Roy barman said that Children’s Day celebrations focus on children and their enjoyment. Not only an eminent figure and national leader, Nehru loved children and spend quite a lot of time with them. Hence, Nehru was also known as Chacha Nehru out of respect and admiration. Schools and educational institutions all over India mark the occasion as a grand fiesta.
