AGARTALA, Oct 13 (TIWN): Auspicious celebration of Durga Puja when knocking at the door, smuggling and illegal intrusion of good has gone rampant all across the state.
Recently two incidents have been reported where foreign made liquor and taxable saline has been recovered by the authority.
Despite the wire fencing across the border area Tripura has become the hub for transporting the prohibited goods. Illegal intrusion of the extremist and miscreants, smuggling of contraband items and cattle’s across Tripura to Bangladesh and vice-versa has become an everyday-issue.
Most of the time it has been seen that the miscreants has been transporting the goods through the Churraibari area.
As it has not become possible to provide fencing in all side of the border, kidnapping and thefts, smuggling of cattle, human trafficking, fake currency are quite rampant along the border as there is lack of proper security arrangements in some parts of the bordering areas.
A vehicle loaded with huge number of illegal taxable medical items transported was detained from Premtala area by the police of Kadamtala police station of worth Rs. 2 Lakh.
Beside, a lorry has been intersected with 310 cartoons of foreign made liquor from Assam Churaibari gate. It was a consignment of Rs. 6.85 lakh.
Smuggling of Phensedyl a cough syrup, with an exceedingly high dose of codeine and other contraband items are increasing day by day in the state.
Besides, Close Circuit TV (CCTVs) has been installed at sensitive and crowded locations while people at big puja venues will have to pass through metal detectors.
However, as many as 23 watch tower will be installed all across the capital to keep a strict vigilance during the Puja celebration. Adequate number of metal detectors and drop gates would be there as part of tight security measures.
