State-Centre Dispute: Agartala-Panisagar double lane road construction delays
TIWN

AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Miserable roads state-wide seems to have no progress. PWD has failed to progress the work of double-lane construction from Agartala to Panisagar. Allegations are coming from PWD Dept of Tripura that central although has announced the double-lane construction work to be prgressed, but the fund has not yet been allocated.

It’s to be mentioned here that centre had hand over the work from Border Roads Organization to the PWD Dept. under Tripura Govt. But although Engineers along with 3 extra staffs had been sent to Kumarghat long before in this purpose, but there is no sign of double-lane construction work.

However, the work to make the Detailed Project Report (DPR) had been given to V K S Consultancy of Delhi, and already 1 core had been sanctioned in this purpose. But till day no survey has been done. As a result roads are left in deplorable condition.

More works are left in this regard. The land demarcation which is a time-killing matter has not yet been started, says report. But the administration including DM, SDM all are mute in this issue.

However, it’s worthy to be mentioned here that although protests are being held by various political parties to renovate the National Highway, but whether within next 5/6 years the National Highway issue will be solved or not, it’s totally uncertain.

In total Rs. 1,200 crore has already been sanctioned from centre in the name double-lane road-construction from Agartla-Sabroom. But PWD Dept. has no concern to finish the work fast.
