AGARTALA, Oct 8 (TIWN): A senior manager of Tripura State Electrical Corporation limited ( TSECL) accused of sexual assault got promotion as Deputy General Manager (DGM). He was also given the additional charge of Division – III other then corporation office.An order of promotion was issued by CMD of TSECL on Wednesday. Serious discontent was noticed among the employees with the news of Santanu Das, accused of sexual assault got promotion. They were surprised by the notification how can the state government reward a person who bears a serious allegation of sexual assault on one of his female colleague.Questions are being raised on the role of Power Minister. Without any investigation whether the allegation of sexually assault is true or false, how can the minister sign the promotion file. The minister is also aware about the incident. There is a women harassment cell in TSECL. But the cell was dissolved after the victim lodged an Fir in police station.A case of sexual assault was lodged on November 2014 against the engineer for alleged sexually assault on his colleague at West Agartala Women Police Station. To evade arrest of police he went underground without any leave permission. Whereas, TSECL instead of taking any action for his absence from duty without permission also gave full month salary. The accused engineer by virtue of his relation with ruling party high – ups CMD of TSECL was made his puppet. Unofficially he is runs the corporation and nobody dares to oppose him. According to report,the victim engineer was transferred from corporation office to make way for Santanu Das.It is alleged that even CMD is in favor of the accused engineer.

Even  departmental investigation was not initiated  against the accused . The victim in the case filed stated that during their affair, Shantanu allegedly developed physical relation with the victim promising her of marriage. When the victim asked for marriage, Shantanu did not accept her proposal. At this, the victim registered an FIR at the Women police Station.
