KAMALPUR, Oct 7, (TIWN): The Head Postmaster of Dharmanagar produced written assurance to pay back the deposits amounting less or up to 5, 000 rupees within the first week of September. It was also assured that the rest of the deposits amounting more than 5, 000 rupees would be given back to the depositors within one or two months. But, in reality, none of the depositors got back even a single paisa of their deposit. And, in this context, the ensuing festivity seemed to be turned gloomy for the depositors of Noagaon sub post office deposit scheme.
For last five to six months, the depositors of the small scale deposit scheme passed the days with hopes and aspirations gradually going beyond reach. The authorities of the Department of Posts as well as the sub-divisional administration provided them with promises of paying back their hard-earned deposits. After much ado and continuous delaying of the Post Office authority, the SDM interfered into the matter. After his initiative the Head Postmaster promised in scribes to pay back the deposits amounting up to 5,000 rupees within first week of September. And the deposits amounting more than 5, 000 rupees would be given after two or three months. But when the festivity of the Durga Puja is knocking at the door, then none of the depositors got back their money. And the deprived depositors’ anguish might break out any unprecedented incident any time.
