AGARTALA, August 26 (TIWN): The online food license and registration system of Food Business Operators has been inaugurated on Wednesday by the M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Food Safety Commissioner.

While addressing the inaugural programme at Pragna Bhavan, Secretary M. Nagaraju said that now the registration and licence process has been made online. It would be convenient for food operators as now they need not rush to civil surgeon's office.

Food business operators will no longer have to visit the civil surgeon's office to apply for registration or licence under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, as now it can be done with just a click of the mouse.

The Health and Family Welfare Department has launched an online licensing and registration system at www.foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in, where besides placing an application, users can also track the status of the application through an application reference number provided by the system during the submission of application.

The food business operators could also know the status of their application through mobile phone or email as the information would be sent to the registered email address and mobile number.

The Food Safety and Standard Act was established in the year 2006. However, the rules of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India commenced from the year 2011 in all over the Nation.

Recently, the online food license and registration system of Food Business Operators has been started in 29 states. And now the thirtieth state will be Tripura.

This act made monitoring easy and the rules and regulations were framed scientifically by one body, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

All food service providers, including Food preservation facility, Packeting and levelling organization, hotels and Restaurant Street food seller and many others.

At present the state has there are a total of 878 number of Food Licence and 3487 number of Food Registration.

The programme was organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department.

However, DHS Dr. JK Dev, Directir of FW, PM (Jt. FSC) Dr. KL Bhowmik and other were present at the programme.
