AGARTALA, August 19 (TIWN): After a time period of about 2 months where the state was massively hit by LPG cooking gas crisis, finally the administration has awaken from the long siesta of sleep and temporarily resolved the issue of Liquid Petroleum gas (LPG) back log crisis in the gas agencies of Agartala.

Talking to TIWN correspondent, Joint Director for Food and Civil Supplies Dibyendu Bhattacharjee said that the issue of disputes of the labourers at Bisalgarh bottling plant is resumed and bottling in the plant has begun in full swing.

Bhattacharjee further said that from Tuesday onwards bottling in Bisalgarh has already began in full pace and bottling of 25 truck  which consist of 306 cylinders per truck will be done regularly.

Apart from the bottling of cylinders at Bisalgarh, at least 10 bulks of cylinders will arrive at Agartala in regular interval from Silachar only to put an end to the back log of cylinders in different gas agencies, added Bhattacharjee.

According to the source, maximum of the LPG bulks have been already dispatched to the several gas agencies in and around Agartala.

The shortage of LPG cylinders in the state is expected to be neutralized by the supply of LPG cooking cylinders in the state.

It is to be mention here that over past many days, cooking Gas crisis has worsened across the state, forcing the domestic users to hit the streets protesting against the acute shortage of LPG cooking gas cylinders at Agartala. Consumers in Agartala are severely hit by the shortage of (LPG) cooking gas cylinders.

Allegedly, Bisalgarh bottling plant was unable to meet the demand of the LPG cylinders at Tripura due to dirty politics played the CITU backed labourers in the plant.

Following the crisis of LPG crisis, black marketing was on a rise, with consumers being forced to buy cylinders at prices ranging between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 a piece. Common men are paying almost more than double to buy a gas cylinder. People were left with no option but to buy the LPG cylinder from the open market by shelling out more money. Shortage of LPG has triggered spontaneous protests in many areas across the state. Taking full advantage of the current situation, black-marketers were making money by selling a gas cylinder almost double its price in the market.

However, with the fresh arrival of LPG bulk and regular bottling at Bishalgarh bottling plant, it is expected that the crisis will come an end for the time being.
