KHOWAI, June 15 (TIWN): Altogether Rs. 8 lakhs of items were seized by the tax officials of Teliamura Tax Department with an accusation that the driver did not pay any tax at Churaibari Check post on Sunday afternoon.
Reportedly, a LP truck bearing registration number UP-83-T-7277 arrived at Churaibari check post all the way from Mungiyakami with Rs. 8 Lakhs of items. The items include Rs. 3 lakhs of electrical items and around Rs. 5 lakhs of shoes.
When asked about the incident, the tax official Niranjan Das said that according to rule every vehicle passes through Churaibari had to fill form number 25 as a part of formality to give tax. Interestingly, the officials said that the driver of the concern truck failed to pay the tax.
The driver said that they paid the tax through broker as they have the copy of receipt but when they reached the check post their items were seized.
Further it is reported that in last the one week two such type of cases came up.
Similarly, last Monday a vehicle bearing registration number G-NL05D-9864 was fined for negligence in giving tax. Altogether Rs. 7 lakhs and 34 thousands of items were seized from Chakmaghat. It was on the way to Kolkata. The items include belt, shoes and iron.
