KHOWAI, June 2 (TIWN): 20 years old boy sent to 14 days of jail remand by Khowai SDJM court on Tuesday morning in allegation of attempt to molestation and rape of a minor girl. The accused is identified as Pirush Debbarma, resident of Khowai Promodnagar area.
Reportedly, on May 26, while the rape victim was returning to her home after dropping her younger brother Ranjit debbarma at tution centre, she was allegedly drag by Pirush Debbarma to the rubber garden alongside of the road at Promodnagar area and tried to rape her.
Taking the advantage of empty place he allegedly tried to molest her, said the rape victim. She further said that though she yelled out for help many times, but no one came to rescue her.
Narrating the incident she further said that after several attempts, she somehow managed to escape from the trap of the Pirush Debbarma and reached her home.
Getting alarm about the incident, the victim’s father Mohirai Debbarma, immediately lodged a complaint in Khowai Champahour Police Station. Police has registered the case under Protection of Children from Sexual offence.
However, police has arrested the accused and produced him before Khowai SDJM court on Tuesday morning. After regular hearing the court has sent him to 14 days of jail remand and ordered police to further investigate the case. A pall of gloom descended over the victim and her family members with this incident.
A sharp decline in the law and order in the situation of Khowai has emerged as a major issue of concern for people in the city. Even after the several tall claims made by the authorities on the so-called development of the rural areas, turns bleak with such shameful incident of violence against the minor girl in the suburbs of the state, which is happening every now and then.
