KHOWAI, May 20 (TIWN): Panchayat Secretary Bishomoni Debbarma of Khowai Podobill Block under South Ramchndra Ghat is allegedly accused of being engaged in MNREGA scam for the financial year 2013-14.

Reportedly, Bishomoni Debbarma, keeping his good relation with MLA Padda Kumar Debbarma is accused of involved in the irregularities of a hefty amount of 1 lakh 30 thousand and 95 thousand 3 hundred from two different project under MNREGA scheme.

Sources say, an amount of 1 lakh 30 thousand is sanctioned in the name of Ram Mohan Debbarma, resident of South Ramchandra Ghat ward no 2, for leveling of a water body in the area. Similarly an amount of 95,300 is sanctioned in the name Pakhi Roy Debbarma of Akhrabari for leveling a water body in another area. In reality no work is done for leveling of any water body in both the area but the money is however grabbed by the Panchayat Secretary by showing the false report of MNREGA work done in the area.

However, both Ram Mohan Debbarma and Pakhi Roy Debbarma have reported the issue to Block BDO Pradip Debbarma. Getting alarm, Poddobill Debbarma has formed a team of 3 engineers for doing investigation to the matter and assured that action will be taken in next 4 to 5 days.

Sources claims that BDO Poddobill Debbarma has unofficially asked the accused Panchayat Secretary Bishomoni Debbarma to surrender the money to the concerned authority within a certain period of time or else further action will be taken.
