KAMALPUR, MAY 20 (TIWN): Ransom looting of public money by the implementing officer and his close aide got unearthed in centrally sponsored Putiachara NWDPRA project under Salema Agricultural subdivision, Kamalpur. The embezzlement unearthed as an inhabitant of the locality sought information through RTI Act. The implementing officer tried to convince the applicant but failed. After the unearthing of the embezzlement, the beneficiaries received a bolt from the blue as they were in complete darkness about the project.

The Putiachara NWDPRA project started at Putiachara under Noagaon Panchayat in 2007-08 fiscal and ended in 2012-13 fiscal last. A total of more than 15, 00,000 of rupees were sanctioned for the project like other such projects. The project was aimed to enhance self-sufficiency of the locale by adopting different agriculture based activities. Digging of ponds, providing cattle, providing orchards of different crops etc were included in the project. Officially, the implementing officer completed the project successfully within stipulated period. But actually, the local people remained unaware of the project completely. In this context, one Sudip Ghosh of Noagaon sought complete information of the project through RTI Act on 23/03/2015. On 23/04/2015, Sudip got the information. It got revealed that, none of the beneficiaries like Subodh Das, Ashim Deb, Sudhir Datta and all others got not a single paisa or any scope as provided against them in official documents.

As the facts got revealed, the local people are demanding of stringent action against the implementing official and also demanding the re-implementation of the project properly.
