AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Secretariat employees of Tripura State Secretariat here are fuming at the recent transfer order of two of its colleagues to the office of Chief Information officer recently. Two secretariat staffs namely Abijit Das and Partha Debnath has been transferred to the Office of the Chief Information Officer from the Secretariat. It may be mentioned here that Abhijit Das, a former member of the Left wing of the local committee of the Employees union had shifted his support to the Right wing of the union angering the top bosses of the left wing of the union. The transfer process is seen as a vengeance of Abhijit’s shift in loyalty by the employees in the secretariat and the Right wing of the union has termed the transfer process as an attack on the secretariat service rules, which does not allow transfer of the secretariat staffs to any other office outside the secretariat complex.

It may be further mentioned here that the erstwhile Agartala Bench of Guwahati High Court had stayed the order of a similar transfer order made by the Govt. in 2007 where another two staffs of the Secretariat service were transferred to State Electricity Department. The Right wing “Tripura Mahakaran Karmachari Samity” gave a deputation to the Secretariat, GA(SA) Dept. B. K Sahoo on last Saturday demanding immediate cancellation of the transfer order.

It may be mentioned here that the Secretariat service through out the country keeps its staffs within the secretariat complex and never transfers the staffs to any other department outside the secretariat complex as the staffs deal with the top most confidential policy matters of the Govt.s.

According to sources in the secretariat, the Right wing “Tripura Mahakaran Karmachari Samity” is filing a case in the Tripura High Court very soon seeking a stay order on the transfer order.

The CPI(M)’s policy of binding the state Govt. employees to its unions has been further proved by the transfer order of two secretariat staffs, claims a top leader of the right wing employees association.
