AGARTALA, May 19 (TIWN): Drug consumption has been a major problem in the society today. Addiction can trap anyone. It can lead to harming one’s body, causing problems in family structure, and contribute to the delinquency in society. Increasing at an alarming rate, the drug consumption among the youths across the state has gripped tight.

Personal and family problems also lead to drug abuse among youngsters who fail to cope up with the ever-growing family and personal problems. Workplace pressure and issues with the colleagues results in workplace deviance which later results in detrimental effects on the individual.

With an alarming increase in the rate of drug abuse, a son of a business man expired at the age of 40 at Kailashahar, said sources. Besides, 5 person at the similar age also lost their life due to the over dosage of drug this year, added.

On being asked about the problem the police source said that the police cannot take any initiative until and unless the guardians or the concern people come up to register any complaints.  

The guardians are unaware about the fact that the children’s are suffering for the drug addiction, said sources. It is further reported that 20 to 25 youths engaged in flying business of drug and other addiction tablets at Kailashahar town. Even there are two to three pharmacies which are involved in the illegal selling of drugs and tablets.

Sources said that the drugs are being avail through vehicles which are runned from Silchar and also being avail from Agartala through courier service. Even two to three youths are engaged in flying business of drug addiction in front of Kailashahar Girl's School near CPI-M Party Office.

According to the sources, youths of 18 to 30 years of age are addicted to drugs like charas, ganja, along with many other addiction tablets and dendrite. Mostly the students of schools and colleges are affected by the consumption of drugs. The alarming rate of drug abuse has always been a problem and especially the increase of drug abuse among youngsters has had detrimental effects on the society.

According to the experts, parents should always be there for their young children, especially since today’s teens are highly susceptible to drug abuse and other social ills. Half the problem is resolved when one shows the desire to give up addiction. One must speak up about his/her problem to someone who would understand and try to get him/her out of the problem.
