AGARTALA, May 7 (TIWN): Jittered by the series of Tripura High Court rulings against the state Govt., the Manik Sarkar led Govt. is looking for replacement of Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatia if the Secretary sources are to be believed. Under tremendous pressure from various quarters, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is in no mood to continue with the Tripura High Court salvo on his Govt. owing to the failure of his close confidant law secretary. The failure of Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatia in safeguarding the Govt. interest in the high court has compelled the chief minister to face criticism from his cabinet members, and a section of the ministry is demanding the law secretary’s ouster for the failure. It may be mentioned here that the Tripura High Court delivered hundreds of judgments and observations against the Manik Sarkar led state Govt. including the judgment cancelling the appointment of 10323 Govt. school teachers which is waiting the Supreme Court’s decision.Appointed to the post of Law Secretary in 2012, the alleged CPI(M) loyalist and blue eyed boy of CM Manik Sarkar could not rise to the expectation and his inept capacity to lead the state Law Department has put the Govt. in a fix and the series of failures in the Tripura High Court has damaged the much ballooned image of the Left Front ruled state Govt.

The recent decision of the Tripura High Court to frame charges against the law secretary has further intensified the demand for his ouster.

It may be mentioned here that the Tripura High Court on April 30, 2015 had framed charges against the law secretary after taking a suo moto contempt of court case against the Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatia for his controversial note defaming the Chief Justice of the high coourt.

The feud  between the State Law Secretary with the High Court started with the case relating to the  state Government’s reservation policy  on promotion in Govt. jobs which was defended by the Law Secretary and in the process the Law Secretary put the most controversial note alleging the Chief Justice of personal ill will against him and Sankari Das, the Deputy law Scretary in the state law department .

Though the government’s stand on the reservation policy coulnd not be defended by the law department, the case has further aggrevated the condition of the state law secretary as Jamatia’s career is about to lend in a turmoil if he is found guilty of contempt of court case.

The flashing of the secret note of law secretary Datamohan to chief minister Manik Sarkar in media further raised questions about the misutilisation of Govt.money in order to safeguard the personal problem of the law secretary. It may be mentioned here that Datamohan had asked for Govt. money to fight the case against the Tripura High Court’s rulings against him.
