CEO greets people for peaceful poll: IPFT, BJP nearest rival to CPI-M in 2015 ADC poll

AGARTALA, May 7 (TIWN): CPI-M and its Left front Govt. has registered an easy sweep to the general elections to Tripura Tribal Areas and Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) with the nearest rival to the CPI-M are IPFT and BJP, said State Election Commissioner of District Council and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S K Rakesh on Wednesday.

Interacting with the reporters here at the civil secretariat on Wednesday after the counting of votes ended said, “The entire election process has ended peacefully with no major untoward incidents reported from anywhere across the state.”

Rakesh greets the people of the state, Security personnel and the media persons for cooperating with the state administration in regard of conducting peaceful election.

According the tentative report from the election commissioner, CPI-M registered a massive victory with highest vote 20, 030 at 22-Kathalia-Mirja-Rajapur constituency. Whereas the IPFT this year has emerged with an increase in its vote bank, recorded 18.06% of votes while BJP emerged with 7.87% of votes.

Both the party has emerged with a distant to second position, said Rakesh.

Left front has registered with 3, 45,876 with 54.21% of votes this year in the District Council election. Rakesh said CPI-M has been certified on 25 seats of the Tribal District Council, RSP – 1 and Forward Block, CPI – 1 each.

The tentative report of the election commissioner showed that the Indian National Congress (INC) could hardly register its party in 2015 ADC poll with at least 5.49% votes.

Left front-backed CPI-M candidate Prabhat Chowdhury won the Manu (ST) assembly by-election by a decisive margin of nearly 16,000 votes. This is the biggest ever margin in the electoral history of this assembly segment.

However later Rakesh said that a new council at ADC has to be constituted by May 18, and an official notification would be issued on May 7 regarding this.
