BELONIA, May 3 (TIWN): With the poll to Tripura tribal council across the ADC areas being held with peaceful voting and no report of any untoward incidents across the state according to the officials, but on a surprising incident occurred on Sunday at Belonia subdivision, a section of media reporters along with photographers were attacked during the poll time.Despite carrying a valid pass with them signed by the Election Commissioner of the state, some media reporters along with a photographer on Sunday were attacked by the presiding officer of 2 No. polling centre under Hrishyamukh Block, Belonia sub-division.The incident took place after the media reporters along with their camera person made an entrance into the polling centre. It was witnessed that presiding officer Rajiv Haldar of the mentioned polling center suddenly attacked on the media persons and had broke one camera.Presiding Officer Rajib Haldar stopped their path and asked not to enter the polling centre, but inspite of showing him valid pass signed by EC, Haldar refused to see it and later called the police and asked to let the media persons out of the polling centre.However the incident has triggered a panic among the common masses of the area with series of questions raised against him.

A section of concerned people said that such an incident during the poll time is unexpected from one presiding officer.

They also raised a question that how come despite attending a mock poll PO Rajiv Haldar act likewise against the media persons.

Though later, the matter was reported to Sector officer Bijan Das. He then informed the matter to his higher authority. Das is expected to submit a report on it during the evening hours.
