Agartala, March 4 (TIWN): The 19 children, who were rescued from Guwahati Railway Station by the Child Line and CID, Assam on February 25, are likely to arrive at Dharmanagar by March 10.
The state government has also decided to send a team from the Child Welfare Committee of North Tripura to accompany the rescued children to Dharmangar.
When the matter was reported to the state government, the Joint Resident Commissioner, Guwahati was directed to find out reports of trafficking of children who are presently staying in the Children Home run by Social Welfare Department, Assam.
It was confirmed that 16 out of children belong to Reang community of Tripura. The matter was taken up with the Social Welfare Department and State Child Protection Society, Assam.
The Child Welfare Committee, Kamrup has issued an order dated March 3, 2015 by which all the 16 children rescued will be transferred to the state immediately for production before the Child Welfare Committee, North Tripura.
Director of Social Welfare and Social Education Department- D. Darlong informed it in a press note this evening.
