ARDD organizes livestock mgmt and disease prevention workshop

Agartala, Feb 24 (TIWN):Animal Resource Development Department (ARDD), Govt. of Tripura, Mohanpur Block, West Tripura organized one- day workshop on livestock management and disease prevention at Durgabari Tea Estate, Bamutia Block of West Tripura district, Tripura on 24th February, Tuesday, 2015 at 11.00 am. A total of 105 delegates covering gram panchayt pradhans, upa pradhans and elected members from different panchayts and panchyat samitis of Bamutia Block actively participated in the workshop.
The main aim of organizing such workshop involving social workers of different gram panchayts and panchyat samitis was to address various issues of livestock farming and aware about the loss incurred due to outbreak of various diseases in livestock and thus taking proper health care, nutritional and preventive measures through vaccination, deworming etc in time for protecting the valuable livestock property available in the villages.
The programme was inaugurated with lightning the lamp by the renowned social worker, Sudhamoy Majumder. At the outset, Dr. (Mrs.) Nipa Debnath, Assistant Director, ARDD, Mohanpur Block, West Tripura welcomed the dignitaries, experts and participants. He remarked the need and importance of such workshop for the community. The inaugural session was graced with the presence of Shri. Khokon Debnath, Chairman of Bamutia Panchayt Samiti as Chief Guest, Bijoy Sinha, B.D.O. of Bamutia Block, West Tripura as Special Guest.
Chairman of Bamutia Panchayt Samiti, Khokon Debnath stated the role of animal husbandry in rural livelihood development and thus the importance of prevention of animal diseases in Tripura state. Shri. Debnath discussed on the future plan and programme for the development of animal resources in the area. Shri. Bijoy Sinha, B.D.O. of Bamutia Block, West Tripura appreciated ARDD a huge for organizing such type of workshop.
Anjan Bin, Hon’ble Chairman of Agriculture Standing Committee, Bamutia Block, West Tripura presided over the inaugural session.
A panel of Veterinary Doctors and Experts were present in the workshop. Dr. Subrato Sukla Das, Deputy Director, ARDD, West Tripura, Dr. Amiyo Bhusan Majumder, Asst Director, ARDD, Uhshabazar, West Tripura and Dr. Billo Debbarma, Assistant Director, ARDD, Hazamara Block addressed the delegates on different aspects of animal husbandry and animal diseases. In the technical session, Dr. Jotirmoy Roy, Veterinary Disease Diagnosis Expert of Disease Investigation Laboratory, Agartala, West Tripura presented in details on livestock diseases and prevention. Dr. Avijit Haldar, Principal Scientist of ICAR, Tripura Centre, Lembucherra, West Tripura delivered a talk at length on scope and challenges of livestock farming for livelihoods. The whole programme was conducted by Dr. Ashok Majumder, Veterinary Doctor and Expert of ARDD, Mohanpur, West Tripura. The workshop has created huge interest and enthusiasm among the delegates.
