AGARTALA, Oct. 3 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday praised the government’s urban development initiatives under the BJP-led Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and accused the opposition of spreading misinformation ahead of the upcoming AMC elections.
Saha made the remarks during a visit to Khetramohan School, where he met faculty members and local leaders to discuss measures aimed at improving the school’s educational environment and infrastructure.
Criticizing the CPI(M) and Congress, which he said had remained in power for more than four decades, Saha claimed that the school had been neglected for years and had gradually lost its prominence.
“Once, many students used to come here, but due to prolonged neglect, the school has gradually lost its popularity. When I became the Education Minister, I decided to focus on schools that were facing such challenges, and this school was also among them,” Saha said.
The Chief Minister also criticized the opposition over its comments on urban management, alleging that such statements were aimed at creating confusion among voters ahead of the AMC elections.
“Yesterday too, I saw one of their leaders criticizing urban management. Such attempts are being made to defame the government and create an issue ahead of the AMC polls, following the completion of the Village Committee elections,” Saha said.
He urged people to assess the development work in their own localities, particularly improvements to roads and other civic infrastructure.
“I would urge them to come out of their homes and see the roads and other development works in their own areas,” Saha said.
