AGARTALA, Sep 13 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday inaugurated a Ganesh Puja at the Grassroot Foundation in Ujjayanta Market.
Speaking to the media, Saha said he was happy that people in Tripura were now moving away from what he described as the “atheist mentality” of the erstwhile communist regime.
“Those people (communists) do not even believe in God. But today, finally, people are relieved from this environment, and now it feels like all festivals are being celebrated here,” Saha said.
He suggested that the celebration of religious festivals had increased under the current government, contrasting it with the previous communist-led rule in the state.
Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder and BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee were also present at the inauguration.
