AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): This is not something unusual but an undiscussed dark-reality of hostel lives, that remains unchecked and overlooked, victimizing kids living far from parents. A recent video leaked from Ramguna Chowdhury Para Higher Secondary school in Kumarghat subdivision in Tripura, shows a senior school student was targeting his junior, beating him up and slapping. The video further shows one more kid was brought to the room and then they locked the room again.
At least three senior students were seen on the spot, attacking the kids inside their room by locking the doors, whereas helpless kids were standing at corners and one was beaten up constantly.
The video has sparked heavy public outrage as people are questioning the role of the superintendent who is failing to control such disturbing incidents inside the building.
The Indian government has passed a law against ragging named Prevention of Ragging 2011. But the ragging culture continues to take a toll on students' mental health still now.
Junior students who reel through fear-psychosis won’t complain against seniors even if they are being targets of ragging.
A aeports of India Today shows how students’ mental health have been affected due to ragging sometimes driving them towards suicides.
