Agartala, February 4 (TIWN): Petrol price was on Tuesday cut by Rs 2.42 per litre and diesel by Rs 2.25 per litre in line with a decline in international oil prices. According to the recent chart, the price pf petrol in Tripura amounts to Rs 55.49 and of diesel to 45.88. It is to be mention, that this is the tenth straight reduction in petrol price since August and sixth in diesel since October.

However People of Tripura have welcomed the slashing of petrol prices by saying that the move has provided some much needed relief to the common people. A bike owner, Arindam Paul said, "It is a relief for a middle class person like me. We are expecting that the petrol prices will be further slashed because a middle class person like me uses two wheelers which run on petrol a lot."

Another resident, Soumya Subhra Paul, also added, "It is good that petrol prices have come down. I hope that the prices are lowered further". Nirmalendu Podder also gave a thumbs-up to the news saying, "The petrol price was slashed even a few days back. It seems to be good if the petrol prices lowered after every two months.”

But inspite of that, black marketing of petrol and diesel continues in the State. During the time of crisis of petrol and diesel, taking advantage of the situation some dishonest petrol dealers sell it at high prices.. This is because the petrol dealers of the State were emerging in a new trend which causes artificial petrol crisis in the State. Inspite of the crisis of petrol, t the concerning authority had not yet taken any proper steps to purchase oil from other oil corporation except IOCL.
