AGARTALA, January 23 (TIWN): Reserve Bank of India has organized a state level coordination committee meeting at the secretariat, with Tripura Chief Secretary G. Kameshwar Rao as the Chairman of the committee alongwith other 20 members from the state and abroad. The meeting concluded with a decision to introduce at least 13 micro finance companies here at the state, said Secretary Ashutosh Jindal on Thursday evening.Talking to the reporters here at the secretariat Secretary Ashutosh Jindal said that Tripura to have at least 13 microfinance companies very soon to provide loan to the citizens of the state. Adding to that Jindal said that the RBI has organized a state level coordination committee meeting here at the secretariat, where the RBI officials along with the police and the Enforcement directorate (ED) had a fruitful discussion to prepare a future plan of the RBI for the state.
Jindal said that the committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary G K Rao along with 20 members from the state as well as from abroad. The DM will conduct an enquiry to the 13 micro finance companies whereas the registration will be done soon, said Jindal. Besides, Jindal said that an awareness programme will also be held soon in this regard.
However it is mentionable here that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed to tighten securitization norms for non-bank financial companies (NBFCs), which will bring these on a par with those for banks.
