TIWN
Agartala, January 22 (TIWN): All India Road Transport Workers Federation (AIRTWF), State Committee on Thursday staged a protest against the Draft Road Transport and Security Bill to be passed by the Central Government at the Parliament. The protest was staged during a convention held at Rabindra Bhawan. Transport Minister Manik Dey inaugurated the convention. Talking at the Convention, Minister demands that though the bill is going to be introduced for the benefit of the local people but, it also laid down the blame of the accidents fully on the vehicle drivers.
Besides, the Federation had also sorted out the loop holes of the bill which are indicated below:
Firstly, by the application of this bill, the Motor vehicles Act introduced by both the Central Government and State Government were suspended. And inspite of that the full responsibility will be vested upon a corporate agency. 3new agencies should be given responsibility such as a) Motor Vehicle Regulation and Road Safety Authority of India (MVR), b) National Road Transport and Multi Model Co-ordination authority (NRT) and c) Highway Traffic Regulation and Protection Force (HTRDF). The handing over the responsibility to the corporate agencies will cherish the opportunities to busy in scams.
Secondly the right which was handed over to the State Government as per the Act 35 of the duel list of the Constitution will now be captured fully under the Central Government. This had led the transfer of fund to the Central Government which was taken by the State Government.
Thirdly by introducing the bill, Central Government will unethically declare war against the safety of the passengers and the innocent drivers. Most probably, the bill is introduced to save the self interest of the corporate agencies.
The sketch of the unethical bill which was prepared against the interest of the motor workers is:
