AGARTALA, January 12 (TIWN): More than 6000 members of the Tripura Pragatishil Gramin Congress (TPGC) including president of TPGC Subal Bhowmik joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, here today.

BJP National General Secretary Ram Lal Ji welcomed president of TPGC Subal Bhowmik along with the members of the party and handed over the party flag to them.

Addressing in the function BJP National General Secretary Ram Lal Ji criticized the Left Front for having their orthodox mentality and they haven’t served the common people. He also said that the CPI(M) MP’s do not raise the issues of the state at the parliament and remain numb there.

He also criticized the Left Front Government''s alternative policies and said that those are against common people.  "Due to clandestine understanding between the CPI(M) and the Congress at the national level, Congress will never launch an effective and pro-people movement against the misrule of CPI(M) in Tripura," Ram Lal Ji said.

"We need to launch a strong movement against the CPI(M) and discard the politics of Congress. We have no doubt in snatching power from the CPI(M) in the next Assembly elections in this state," he said.
He warned unless CPI-M stop politics of violence and corruption in the administration, BJP would continue to fight both politically and physically for betterment of the state and for any untoward incident Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will be held responsible.

"Police has also become biased to CPI-M; in front of police, opposition supporters are being tortured, women are molested and children are beaten up and abused by the ruling party cadres but no action is taken," he pointed out.

Uninterrupted 22 year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development, he alleged.

BJP Tripura Unit President Sudhindra Dasgupta and other members of the party were present in the function.
