Agartala, January 12 (TIWN): It is said that older persons are the backbone of family. Inspite of that they have to face troubles by the family members in the last phase of life. The old age homes are specially built to protect them and provide food and security to those olderly persons.
But recently due to the negligence of the Government, the old age homes in Tripura are facing acute crisis of infrastructure, food and nutrition.
Government had turned a blind eye to their necessities. 'Only some private organizations and NGOs are extending help towards them. Recently the condtion of the Apnaghar was focused. Late Chief Minister Sudhir Ranjan Majumder started this organization with an object of giving shelter and food to the old and aged persons.
But these days the condition of Apnaghar (Bridhdhashram) located at Barjala is very dismal.
Even the 51 aged persons, residing in this house, are now suffering from the basic amenities of life like food, warmth and care.
State govt does not seem to be very much careful of it.
Today a few persons and an organization namely School of Science distributed rice, dal, vegetables to the Apnaghar.
This morning the food items were handed over to the authorities of Apnaghar.
But what the old citizens of Apnaghar demand is the regular supply of food, care and at least some blankets to protect themselves from c old. Clearly something needs to be done and has to be done soon.
Even some of the homes there is one hardly had any facility for recreational activities.
There was a small TV in one corner of the room that was covered with dust.
The beds in the old age home had filthy bed sheets and there was no care taken for dusting & cleaning.
Inspite of taking care of the older persons, the State Government were busy over issues of spuriousdrug, atrocities against women, corruption, malfunctioning of PDS, chit fund, deterioration of law and order, underdevelopment of tribal people and deprivation of employees .
The tightlipped gesture of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over the increasing crimes and vowed to intensify party’s agitation across the state.
Uninterrupted 21 year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura.
Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development, the state government deep necked in corruption and CPIM is not the Government for the people.
Left Front do not care about peoples and there problems, they do not settle issues involving poor people.
